Sanmina’s Salt Lake City Facility Awarded AS9100C Certification for Defense and Aerospace Manufacturing

SAN JOSE, Calif. – December 1, 2016 – Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM), a leading manufacturing solutions company making some of the world’s most complex and innovative electronic, optical and mechanical products, today announced its Salt Lake City, Utah facility has been awarded the AS9100C certification for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), subassemblies and systems. This certification is an internationally recognized standard focused on quality requirements necessary in the defense and aerospace industry.  Compliance with this certification, which includes increased parts traceability, risk identification and mitigation, ensures that mission critical equipment used by the military and government meets the highest quality standards.

The western United States is home to many large and emerging defense and aerospace companies who are developing advanced air, sea and ground based defense technology. OEMs must meet stringent government regulations and have manufacturing partners with the necessary certifications to produce the high reliability electronics used in military and aviation equipment. The AS9100C certification compliments Sanmina Salt Lake City’s existing International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) security registration.

“We take pride in having served high technology military and aerospace customers for many years,” said Jack Nydegger, Plant Manager, Sanmina Salt Lake City Operations. “There is strong demand from both tier 1 and other OEM’s for new product introduction (NPI) and rapid prototyping services in this region.  Our new AS9100C certification, along with our ITAR registration and expertise with defense and aerospace products make us uniquely qualified to offer a complete range of services, with full regulatory compliance.”

Sanmina’s state-of-the-art Salt Lake City, Utah facility is the areas only tier 1 integrated manufacturing service (IMS) provider, and also serves as a gateway to Sanmina’s 70 facilities worldwide. Customers also benefit from experienced engineering, supply chain and manufacturing professionals that support design, development and prototyping for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and complex systems.

Newisys and Kazan Networks Demo NVMe Over Fabric Flash Array

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov 10, 2016 – Newisys, a Sanmina (Nasdaq: SANM) product division, and Kazan Networks Corporation will be demonstrating the world’s fastest NVMe over Fabric (NVMe-oF) connected Ethernet-attached flash array at the SuperCompute conference being held from November 14-17.  Newisys will show their industry leading 2U/24 NVMe SSD solution with Kazan Networks NVMe-oF solution inside. Newisys is a leading provider of data center products for enterprise and cloud applications.

“We are excited to partner with Newisys for this week’s demo, and their team has been fantastic to work with on this project,” said Joe Steinmetz, CEO of Kazan Networks.  “The combination of our two technologies has come together this week to demonstrate functionality and performance that simply hasn’t been seen before.”

Since showing a prototype NVMe-oF array at IDF16 in August, Kazan Networks has now developed a single 4x25Gb Ethernet card providing high performance, low latency connectivity to the Newisys shelf.  Newisys’ and Kazan Networks’ technology come together to deliver 10M IOPS of performance out of a single 2U system, equivalent to 40GBytes/sec of bandwidth.  In this configuration, there is less than 7 µsec of incremental latency associated with a fabric-attached SSD.

This high performance, low latency solution is ideal for enabling storage and compute disaggregation in advanced data center architectures.  By pooling and sharing storage, rather than isolating it within a server chassis, large data centers can enjoy huge improvements in storage utilization, along with other benefits.

“We are pleased to be showing a fabric-connected solution here at SuperCompute along with Kazan Networks,” said Eugene McCabe, EVP of Newisys.  “Our two teams have collaborated on this new and exciting technology, enabling the highest levels of performance.  Fabric-attached NVMe storage looks to be an extremely promising new opportunity for us.”

Newisys and Kazan Networks intend to productize this solution in early 2017 and are sharing details now with select customers.  The fully functional solution may be viewed at Newysis’ booth 4063 in the exhibit hall at the SuperCompute conference, November 14-17 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

About Newisys
Newisys, a product division of Sanmina Corporation, provides advanced data center products including solid-state memory and disk-based storage server appliances, JBOD storage systems and other products for a variety of data center and storage applications. Newisys solutions are tailored for integration into OEM, System Integrator and Data Center products, reducing development and operating costs while improving time-to-market.
